Hydrangea arborescens PINK ANNABELLE
DISTINCION OF PLANT NOVELTIES COMPETITION 2019
Shrub with impressive flowers in a pink color, rare to this species. Variety similar to 'NCHA1' but it creates stronger and more rigid growths crowned with showy inflorescences. Bushes bloom from the end of June to August. Their dark green, ovate leaves create an additional decorative value. Fast growing cultivar, reaching up to 1.5 m in height. In the spring it requires a heaving cutting back.
It grows well on moderately moist, permeable, humus-rich and clayey soils. The plant is tolerant to sun exposure. Frost resistance zone: 5b.
It is effective both in private gardens, parks and urban greenery. It looks best planted in groups.
Cultivar bred by Thomas Ranney at North Carolina State University, introduced to the US market in 2014.
