BROWN MEDAL OF PLANT NOVELTIES COMPETITION 2019
A compact, flowering perennial attracting numerous pollinating insects - bees, butterflies and bumblebees. It forms low, dense clusters growing up to 30 cm in height. The stems from the bottom are strongly branched. Small, ovoid lanceolate green leaves on short petioles, notched or scored, wrinkled. Blue flowers with purple goblets gathered in several whorls on the tops of the shoots. The plant blooms for a long time, from June to September. Trimming of dry inflorescences prolongs flowering.
The plant is easy to cultivate and grows on most permeable, moderately moist garden soils. It tolerates drought quite well, requires sunny positions. Resistant to frost (zone 4).
Perennial with versatile use, recommended for planting in groups. Suitable for growing in containers set against sun balconies and terraces.
Cultivar bred and introduced to the market in 2018 by Boot & Co Boomkwekerijen B.V.
