DISTINCION OF PLANT NOVELTIES COMPETITION 2020
Alstroemeria INDIAN SUMMER® ‘Tesronto’PBR
Perennial with attractive, exotic flowers and compact habit, grows up to 60-90 cm in height. A variety from the SUMMER PARADISE® series, it forms tuberous rhizomes from which chocolate-claret stems and leaves emerge in the spring, dividing to the sides as they grow. Lanceolate leaves, smooth margins, tricolor, red-orange-yellow flowers, speckled, gathered in umbellate inflorescences at the tops of the stems. Blooms profusely from June to autumn. The above-ground part dies down in the winter. Alstroemeria requires a quiet position, sheltered from the wind, sunny or slightly shaded locations and fertile, humus soil, moist but permeable, slightly acidic (pH 5.5-6.5). It can be grown in the ground in warmer, western parts of the country or in large containers kept on balconies and terraces, kept indoors for the winter. Withstands temperatures to about - 15°C (zone 7a). In the autumn it requires mulching with a thick layer of bark (10-15 cm). Plants grown in containers should be wintered in rooms with a temperature of around 0°C (for example, an unheated basement, garage). The plant can be grown as a cut flower.
