Cercis canadensis GARDEN GEMS® AMETHYST

A small tree with a naturally dense habit and purple foliage, growing to 2–3 m in height. This cultivar was developed by crossing the redbud varieties ‘Ruby Falls’ and ‘Ace of Hearts’. Pink flowers appear in early spring directly on the trunk and branches, arranged in clusters, attracting bees and other pollinating insects. The leaves are small, heart-shaped, and display an exceptionally deep amethyst-purple colour that retains its intensity throughout the growing season. It prefers fertile, moderately moist soils and sunny positions. This plant is recommended for home gardens as well as for container cultivation on large balconies and terraces. Hardiness zone: 6b (−20 to −18°C).
