Cercis griffithii BLUE LAGOON

A shrub or small tree distinguished by its attractive bluish-grey foliage, which retains its characteristic colour from spring to autumn. The plant has an upright habit and, after 5 years of cultivation, reaches approximately 2–2.5 m in height. In spring, before the leaves emerge, the branches are densely covered with pink flowers. The young growth is dark red, contrasting with the cool tone of the heart-shaped leaves. It grows best in a sunny position, in moderately moist but well-drained soil. To maintain a compact habit the plant can be pruned. It works well as a specimen plant, a colour accent in borders, and as a plant for large containers. Hardiness zone: 7a (−17 to −15°C).
