Diervilla ×splendens KODIAK® MIXX

A compact, low-growing, multi-coloured shrub with green leaves irregularly edged in creamy white and vibrant pink new growth. It reaches 60–80 cm in height. Young shoots and emerging leaves are intensely pink, allowing the shrub to maintain its attractive colouring throughout much of the growing season. From early summer until autumn, the plant produces small, pale yellow flowers that are highly attractive to pollinating insects. It grows well in full sun, partial shade, and shade, tolerates a range of well-drained soils, and withstands periods of drought. The shrub responds well to rejuvenation pruning. To maintain a compact habit and encourage the production of colourful young shoots, plants may be pruned in early spring. Due to its compact size, it is well suited to small gardens and locations where many ornamental shrubs perform poorly because of partial shade or periodic water shortages. The cultivar is recommended for borders, group plantings, urban landscapes, and container cultivation. Hardiness Zone: 5a (−29 to −27°C).
