Hydrangea arborescens PINK ANNABELLE 'NCHA2' PBR

Shrub with impressive flowers in a pink color, rare to this species. Variety similar to 'NCHA1' but it creates stronger and more rigid growths crowned with showy inflorescences. Bushes bloom from the end of June to August. Their dark green, ovate leaves create an additional decorative value. Fast growing cultivar, reaching up to 1.5 m in height. In the spring it requires a heaving cutting back.

It grows well on moderately moist, permeable, humus-rich and clayey soils. The plant is tolerant to sun exposure. Frost resistance zone: 5b.

It is effective both in private gardens, parks and urban greenery. It looks best planted in groups.

Cultivar bred by Thomas Ranney at North Carolina State University, introduced to the US market in 2014.

Variety with pale pink inflorescences growing on stiff, strong shoots that do not bend over from the weight of the flowers. A shrub with a compact habit, from 0.5 to 1 m in height and up to 0.8-1 m in width. Large, dark green leaves, delicate pink flowers collected in globular inflorescences. It blooms from the end of June to August, with dry inflorescences remaining ornamental until the end of the season, also through the winter. In early spring it requires a strong cutting low to the ground.

Requires fertile, humus-rich, constantly moist, neutral or alkaline soils in sunny and shady locations. Healthy variety, frost resistant (zone 5b).

Recommended for planting in groups or individually in small backyard gardens, estates and in containers.

Cultivar obtained by Guido Rouwette, released to the market in 2019 by Hoogenraad Handelskwekerijen bv.

Shrub with stiff, straight and strong shoots crowned with impressive, pink inflorescences. It grows from 0.5 to 1 m in height and up to 0.5 - 1 m in width. It creates interesting, dark green leaves with a slightly brown tinge, forming a nice background for bright flowers. Pink flowers, gathered in spherical inflorescences. It blooms from the end of June to August, with dry inflorescences remaining ornamental until the end of the season, also through the winter. In early spring it requires a strong cutting low to the ground.

Fertile, humus-rich, constantly moist, neutral or alkaline soils, sunny and shady positions. Healthy variety, frost resistant (zone 5b).

Recommended for planting in groups or individually in small backyard gardens, estate or in containers.

A clump perennial with attractive, arched and evenly narrow leaves and dark orange flowers. During flowering, it grows up to 70 cm in height. It creates funnel-shaped flowers 14 cm in diameter with a bright red throat and yellow eyelet. They are comprised of 6 wide, extruded petals with curled edges. The flowers, set on the tops of long, bare stems growing above the leaves, develop in June and July and have a pleasant smell. The variety repeats flowering, which is a rare feature for daylilies.

The plant is easy to grow, tolerant as to soil type. Grows well in sunny and semi-shady locations, frost resistant (zone 4).

Plant recommended for growing in public green areas and home gardens, in flower beds, in groups or in compositions with other perennials.

Tufty, evergreen grass with attractively colored inflorescence shoots. It grows up to 20-30 cm in height (during flowering up to 50-70cm). The dark green leaves are very narrow, may turn rust colored on tips at the end of autumn and in the winter. Flowers appear from June to July, collected in small, spiky inflorescences. The copper color of the blades is a characteristic feature distinguishing this variety.

The plant requires a sunny location and permeable ground. Tolerates poor soils and water scarcity, frost resistant (zone 5).

Plant recommended for individual planting or in groups in home gardens and urban greenery, on perennial and grassland beds, on moors, rock gardens and in containers.

Polish cultivar selected by Krzysztof Słowiński, found as a mutation on an unmarked fescue with blue leaves, introduced to the market in 2019 by the Szkółka Słowińscy Krzysztof Słowiński.

Compact, tufty perennial with erect habit and slender stems, reaching 40 to 50 cm in height. Green leaves of various sizes. The large basal leaves form a rosette from which numerous, slender inflorescence shoots grow in early summer. Features magenta, bell-shaped flowers in the shape of a thimble, inside with white-brown spots, arranged in clusters. The plant blooms in June and blooms for a long time, luring numerous pollinating insects.

It grows best on fertile, humus, moderately moist and permeable soils, with pH 5.5-6.5, in sunny to semi-shaded locations. Frost resistant variety (zone 5).

Recommended for planting in perennial beds in rustic and naturalistic gardens as well as in containers on balconies and terraces.

Cultivar bred by Takii and released to the market by this company as well as by Florensis in 2018.

Cypripedium reginae

A strong growing garden orchid growing up to 90 cm in height. 3 to 8 broad-leafed, light-green leaves on straight, stiff shoots. The leaves are 10 to over 20 cm long and 5 to 15 cm wide, covered with hairs. From mid-May to mid-June, 1-3 unique trap-shaped flowers in the shape of slippers develop on the tops of the shoots. The boot (shoe) is very impressive, the size of a hen's egg, pale pink to maroon, with white streaks, perianth leaves are snow-white. A single flower is over 10 cm in diameter.

Easy to grow orchid requiring moderately moist, slightly acidic and humus substrate prepared from porous additives, such as expanded clay aggregate, perlite, vermiculite, seramis. Prefers shady and partially shady locations. Plant fully resistant to frost (zone 4).

Perennial recommended for growing in home gardens.

North American species, cultivated by orchid collectors for many years, but virtually unknown on a larger scale and rarely available in perennial nurseries.

Shrub with decorative leaves that change color during the season and fluffy, effective fruits. It grows up to 1.5 - 2 m in height. Plants spread well, forming numerous, straight shoots. Single leaves with smooth edges, obovate, magenta in the spring, green in the summer, turning intensely red and orange in the fall. Small, inconspicuous flowers develop in June, gathered in loose, paniculate inflorescences. The stalks of sterile flowers grow and become pinnate, thus creating characteristic, fluffy, pink wigs.

The plant prefers light soils, well-drained, sunny locations. Resistant to drought and frost (zone 5b).

Cultivar recommended for planting in home and plot gardens, in flower beds and for creating effective autumn compositions with grasses, perennials and other shrubs.

Cercis canadensis CAROLINA SWEETHEART 'NCCC1' PBR

Small tree growing up to 3-4 m tall with decorative, multi-colored and variegated leaves. Broad habit, loose crown. Leaf blades are large, cordate, in numerous shades of white, pink, purple and green, set on long, pinkish purple petioles. These colors are mainly found on young leaves, also in the form of interwoven streaks, dots and patches. The leaves turn green late in the summer. Pink flowers develop together with leaves at the turn of April and May, gathered in bunches. The flowers are formed directly on trunks and boughs as well as on the young shoots.

The plant requires warm and sheltered positions, sunny to semi-shady, neutral to alkaline soil, average fertility and moderately moist. Frost resistant cultivar (zone 5b).

Original tree recommended for planting in the home gardens and estates, in exposed places and in compositions with plants with dark foliage.

Bred by Thomas Raney at the University of North Carolina, released to the US market in 2014.

Shrub with exotic wine red flowers and nice, seasonal foliage. It grows up to 2-2.5 m in height. It forms quite large, elliptic, light-green leaves, slightly shiny on the surface, turning yellow in autumn. Flower buds appear individually at the tops of short shoots growing on last year's branches. The flowers are big, 8-9 cm in diameter when fully open. They are comprised of a dozen or so veined, dark red petals surrounding yellow stamens. The inner petals are shorter and shell-like in the center of the flower. Flowers appear from the end of May to the turn of July and August, give off a delicate aroma of apples, and their color contrasts intensely with the juicy green color of the leaves.

The bush is healthy and easy to grow, has no pests or diseases, highly tolerant of soil type and location. Prefers warm locations, secluded, sheltered from the wind. In Western Poland, the plant is frost resistant, in the east of the country, young plants require winter coating (zone 6b).

The plant is recommended for growing in home gardens and in parks, in compositions with other shrubs and perennials.
